Simulations in education: Information related to simulation, role play, and gaming as discussed on October 4 is readily available, though much of the information is specific to business and technology education.

The Game Manufacturer's Association, a trade group, publishes an overview of educational games and a booklet on simulations for teaching language and literature which are available for downloading.  Follow the "Games in Education" link at the top of the page.  The site was recommended by a student in Methods in 2001.

Apple Computer Corporation's review of computer-based simulations in education gives both sides of the issue.  For example, some people criticize the use of simulations because they oversimplify reality and fail to encourage divergent thinking.
