Mythbusters Trombone Research

So, what educational reason to I have for posting this one? OK, ok, I  think it's cool to watch some guys blowing up a trombone. It, speaks to me somehow.  As I'm sure it will speak to you as well.

From the good folks at The Discovery Channel and their cool show: Mythbusters

Some Incredible Musical Inspiration!

Finding yourself at an inspirational impasse in your music? Check out this rendition of the beautiful aria Nessun Dorma from Puccini's Turandot by the Ultimo Dramatico himself: Luciano Pavarotti!!!

(if this don't inspire you...please call a health professional)

And as if THAT wasn't enough!!!.....

Here is my all-time favorite vocalist Sarah Vaughan singing my all-time favorite tune Over the Rainbow in 1958.  Are you kiddin me? Come on....WOW....get outta here!!  I'm just sayin'.

Now...go put some of THAT into your trombone and play it.

More Carl!

WOW! Now this is how you play a ballad with perfect time and very beautiful harmonic language. My only complaint is that it stops too early....enjoy some genius:

Carl Fontana playing Duke's "I Got it Bad and That Ain't Good"

(another Daviska goldmine special addition!)

On Tour with Christian Lindberg

Check out the amazing Lindberg as he tours Japan with pianist

Roland Pöntinen. Filmed in a cool documentary style, you get to see many Lindbergian excerpts. Take a close look at his relaxed, yet fast and efficient slide technique! (mucho thanks to Kenny Davis for finding this clip)

Christian's ultra-hip site:

Carl, Watrous, and Frank!

Grainy and jerky (hey, I knew them in high school!) in quality, but the audio is pretty clean and the playing...OH MY! (now if  J.J. and Slide would have been there, we would have had the entire Justice League!)

Thanks again to Daviska for finding this clip.

Frank Rosolino

Jazz Scene U.S.A.

Check out this classic solo by Frank from the famous Jazz Scene U.S.A.

TV show. Frank nails the daylights out of  "Yesterdays"

(note the High F's in sharp 3! Es in b3!!!)

Great Rosolino site to learn more about his music, life, and tragic end:
