Rob Hyatt Joins Maynard Ferguson's Big Bop Nouveau!
Rob Hyatt, a class of 2000 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Bachelor of Music Performance Major will be joining Maynard Ferguson's Big Bop Nouveau Band on September, 25! He will be the featured trombonist with the group and will embark on a national tour that will begin in Kentucky and then cover most of the continental U.S.!
Rob got the call from Maynard's manager early in the week of September 10, and the exciting news spread quickly.
While at UWW, Rob was lead, principle, and first chair trombone in all of our performing groups. In 1999, he toured Europe with the UWW Jazz Symposium. Dates on that tour included the Montreux and North Sea Jazz festivals as well as concerts in Paris and sightseeing in London.
Rob topped off his academic career at Whitewater with a wonderful trombone recital that included, among other works, the infamous Creston Fantasy. Rob did a great job with this notoriously difficult piece, and gave us all a glimpse of just how advanced he had become!
Upon graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Music degree, performance emphasis, Rob went on to get his Masters in Jazz Performance at DePaul University. While at DePaul, Rob was the lead trombonist with their great big band under the direction of Bob Lark.
We are so very proud of Rob and his fabulous accomplishments! He is a fine example to the rest of the UWW Trombone Studio, past-present-and future, as to what can be achieved through hard work and determination.
Best of Luck Rob and CONGRATULATIONS
from the UWW Trombone Studio!
