Steve Wiest's Trombone Zone

Expectations

My expectation for you as a student in the UWW Trombone Studio, is that you will do the following [DAILY!]

1. Love Music

If you don't love music, you better change your major right now!
To be a successful musician, you must have a heartfelt passion for music and the process of becoming a better musician. If you don't, then you will find that you are wasting your time. I expect music to be your passion.

2. Practice

Your improvement as a musician is directly related to the amount and quality of your practice time. To get better, you MUST practice. How much should you practice? Enough to get better. You and I both will know on a weekly basis if you are improving or not. In general, if you are not practicing at least 2-3 hours per day...you really should consider another line of work!

3. Stay Organized

To practice at the level that I mention above, you will need to organize your day accordingly. A calendar, organizer, Palm Pilot Hand-Held Computer, etc...these are all necessary to keep you organized and on-task. The better organized you are, the more you will be able to practice. The more you are able to practice, the better musician you will become!

Having stated 1-3...specific requirements can be found on the following pages.
