Recordings

As I will mention to you time and time again in your lessons, it is of prime importance to develop a library of trombone CDs and to LISTEN TO THEM! Any good trombonist has in his or her mind a sound and style that they are striving for. That sound is either the exact sound of someone else, or a synthesis of many great trombonists. Therefore, this page is an on-going project to list trombonists and at least one recommended recording. The first list to be included on this page is the jazz trombone list that was developed by myself and Dr. Don Deal. Don is a wonderful trombonist and Director of Bands at Whitewater High School. As one of our on-going projects, the UWW trombone studio will be developing a similar list for classical trombonists. Often, you will find that many of these names could fit on either list...but we will categorize them for the style they are best known.

So, just choose a name from the list and then do a CD search at your favorite on-line store. The recording that is listed is a recommended choice, you will no doubt find many other recordings as you search. University CDs can be purchased by using that university's website.
