UWW Trombone Zone to Perform

at the 2005 WMEA State Conference

in Madison:

Friday, October 28: 9:30am

Lecture Hall @ Monona Terrace (Level 4)

The UWW Trombone Zone will be one of the featured performing groups at the 2005 WMEA Music Conference in Madison later this month. The Trombone Zone is a modern jazz ensemble made up of select members of the UWW trombone studio and the rhythm section from our premiere jazz group: The UWW Jazz Symposium.  Performing all types of jazz styles from a library that was begun when the Capitol Bones donated their entire book to us, and has since been getting larger and larger...the Trombone Zone is the ultimate jazz trombone experience.  It is essentially a group that has all the power and flexibility of a big band, with all of the warmth an intimacy of a jazz small group.

As a special treat, we will also have two guest artists performing with us: saxophonist Sam Fettig and trumpet artist Eric Jacobson.  Both are alums of UWW and founding members of the UWW Jazz Symposium.

The program will consist of:

It's Alright With Me: Arr. Kai Winding

Autumn Leaves: Arr. Alfredo Mojica

(with guest soloist and UWW Alum: Eric Jacobson)

Sugar: Arr. Matt Niess

The Secret Sharer: Conrad Herwig

with guest soloist and UWW Alum: Sam Fettig)

Highland Pass: Billy Byers
