Geoff Poole Senior Recital Sunday, March 12: 3:00pm
Program:
Concertino for Trombone and String Orchestra, Op. 47 No. 7 - Lars-Erik Larsson (1908-1986)
Intermission
I’m Geoff Poole, a junior Instrumental Music Education major from the small town of Cambridge, Wisconsin. While at Cambridge High School I was “inspired” to become a high school band director, so that’s what my goal has become. I’ve had the honor of playing in a wide variety of great ensembles at UW-W, including the Whitewater Symphony Orchestra, Warhawk Marching Band and Trombone Choir. In the Spring of 2004 I traveled to England with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and performed at places such as Christ Church in Oxford, Salisbury Cathedral and the Royal Northern College of Music. I am a member of the International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) and the Collegiate Music Educator’s National Conference (CMENC), where I am currently serving as Treasurer. In addition to playing and practicing music I enjoy sports and movies quite a bit, plus I spend most of my summers working at the Ed Bryant Scout Reservation, where I occasionally teach Music Merit Badge. That means I’m a Boy Scout, and I’m also an Eagle Scout. If you’re looking to play challenging music in great ensembles, learn from the best and most supportive faculty and work with the friendliest fellow students, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the ideal place for you!
