The Final Week of Classes This is the last week of classes before juries, finals, etc. As you all know, this is also my final week teaching here at UWW before going to my new post at UNT. Therefore, for all of you who check out this site regularly...this is the final week where an update will take place. At some point, the new trombone teacher at UWW will put his/her own spin on the site, or come up with a new one of their own. Until that time, I will leave www.uwwtrombone.net active with no updates. To all of you who enjoy this resource; thank you. Keep swingin!

And now... (practice rooms are ready and waiting to take your calls...) S. Wiest The Great Curtis Fuller! Thank goodness for the "information age" and sites like YouTube, or most of us wouldn't get to see this stuff! Here is the great Curtis Fuller performing with one of the best versions of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers!
with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers in San Remo, 1963. Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton and Reggie Workman. Now THAT'S a great line-up! The Legendary Clifford Brown Practice Tape! I had heard about this recording for years, and now thanks to a posting on Daily Motion, here it is for us to check out. This is an audio recording of Clifford Brown practicing. THIS is how and why he sounded like he did! Another good reason to practice. This classic brought to you by Bill Snodgrass. sSteve Davis with Jackie Mclean! Here is a wonderful clip of one of my favorite trombonists on the scene today: Steve Davis. Steve comes right out of the J.J./Curtis/Slide tradition and is a serious expert on the modern jazz language! Check out as much of his music as you can possibly find!
The Jackie Mclean Sextet: Jackie Mclean(as) Rene Mclean(ts) Steve Davis(tr) Alan Palmer(p) Nat Reeves(b) Eric McPhearson(d) For more info on Steve Davis: http://www.stevedavis.info/index3.html (all previous index page videos are archived here: J.J., Carl, Frank, Christian, Joe, The whole T-Bone Justice League!)
(all previous index page postings can be found here)
Welcome to "The Trombone Zone", the homepage for our UWW trombone studio. Here at UW-Whitewater, we want you to have every opportunity to be the best musician and person that you can possibly be. The UWW trombone studio is a gathering of students of the trombone who have a common goal: to grow musically through hard work, practice, heartfelt enthusiasm, practice, research, practice, listening, practice, ensemble playing...did I mention practice? On the following pages you will find information concerning the expectations and requirements necessary to be a successful trombone major at UW-Whitewater.
