WCTE CONVENTION At The Pyle Center in beautiful downtown Madison

Now,
more than ever, the idea of “literacy” is an increasingly complex one.
As we consider and respond to the needs and hopes of our students, where do
our own concepts of “literacy” begin and end? In our current historical
and socio-political contexts, do we include global understanding, multi-cultural
awareness, and values of citizenship as separate from or linked to
21st Century literacy? What do we read, and how do we write
and think in this ever-expanding world of possibilities? What role does
a cross-disciplinary approach have in our classrooms? And, how do we,
as teachers and learners, interpret the role of “the word” in a global,
digital environment?
