Nancy Ran Tao Assistant Professor

Nancy Ran Tao, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, University of Wisconsin, Whitewater.  She is research associate at the Claremont Institute for Economic Policy Studies.  Her areas of specialization include financial economics, banking, industrial organization, game theory, econometrics, and computational economics.

Dr. Tao’s current research focuses on the commercial banking strategies and the banking industries in the U.S. and China, and China’s economic and financial reforms.  Her recent published articles and working papers examine the impacts of off-balance sheet activities on community bank performance and the relationships between bank deposit interest rate strategies, bank size and market concentration in the U.S., and relationships between monetary policies, bank lending and asset market in China.

Her past teaching and research positions include Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Claremont Graduate University, and research associate at the National Development and Reform Commission in Beijing, China.  Dr. Tao received Ph.D. in Economics from Claremont Graduate University and M.Sc. in Operational Research from Lancaster University, United Kingdom.
