
Senior Aviator: Have 1,500 flying hours in aircraft or seven
years from basic
rating date.
Army Aviator: The individual must have satisfactorily completed
the
prescribed training and proficiency tests conducted by the U.S.
Army
Aviation Center and must have been designated as an aviator in
appropriate orders .
First Lieutenant Rambadt began military aviator training by attending the US Army Aviation School (Fixed Wing Aviator) at Camp Gary Texas in 1959. He completed primary flight training (primary and tactical flight was conducted in the Army O-1 Aircraft) and was awarded the wings of Army Aviator by graduating from the Tactical Aviator Training and Instrument Flight Schools (Instrument flight was conducted in the Army U- 6 -Beaver Aircraft) at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Lieutenant Rambadt's first aviation assignment was with the 3rd Infantry Division with stations in Kitzigen and Aschaffenburg, Germany from December 1959 through January 1962. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Berlin) and National Defence Service Medal and was promoted to Captain during this assignment. return to military experience page
Captain Rambadt maintained his flight ratings during a six month ground assignment at the Engineer School, Fort Belvoir, Virginia Captain Rambadt after which he left active duty and accepted an assignment to the 84th Division (USAR-Training) in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Captain Rambadt served first as rotary-wing (helicopter) pilot and upon promotion to Major as the Division Aviation Officer. He was awarded the designation Senior Army Aviator duirng these assignments. He attended Helicopter Transition School at Mineral Wells (transition flight was conducted in the Army OH-23 Aircraft), Texas in 1964 and flew support missions for various active and reserve units during the summers of 1964 through 1975. Major Rambadt removed himself from flight assignments to accept a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel and assignment as a military instructor.
