GENERAL MANAGEMENT
About the Major & Minor:
GENERAL MANAGEMENT (GM) major in BBA prepares people for many entry level and above, managerial and supervisory positions in business, government, and non-profit organizations.  The major also offers the flexibility to the students to customize their courses to focus on a specific career.  The major provides information about understanding the knowledge and skills that are needed to effectively manage and lead in an organization.  The GM area courses include organization and management, managing small business, entrepreneurship, international management, supervisory management, and the two College required courses of organizational behavior and administrative policy.   A General Management minor is also offered.
Involvement with Industry & Student Organizations:
Most of our students gain real-world experience through internships set-up with local, regional and multinational companies. For internship information please contact Jim Sisak 472-5441 or sisakj@uww.edu. The Management Department has very active student organizations including: General Management Organization (GMO), International Business Association, Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), and Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM).  The ones which have annual regional and national conferences (and competitions) do very well and often win awards.  These achievements reflect the high level of student and faculty activities and involvement.
Career Options
Common examples of career opportunities include entry level supervisory or managerial roles in a variety of sectors of the economy, such as retailing, services, manufacturing, finance, operations, marketing, government.  Because of the broad spectrum of training, the General Management graduates find themselves versatile enough to pick and choose from a variety of careers.
