This was my second pen purchase that Brian at Edison Pen has made me. I went back and forth quite a bit on the color choice to make for this pen. I finally decided I wanted a nice green colored pen. The Hunter Green Pen I purchased is an awesome green pen that I can just sit and stare at all day long if need be.
Overall Craftmanship
Brian is a complete and utter craftsman. The product that he turns out is 110% every time and my pen is absolutely no different. The fit and finish of the pen are top notch. The section of the pen screws securely into the body of the pen with no issue and the cap does so as well. In my time carrying the pen I've yet to have the cap come off of it. I couldn't be happier the craftsmanship of this Pearl!
Nib
I purchased this pen with an 18k Two-Tone Edison nib. The nib is a wonderful addition to my collection. It writes butter smooth, fairly wet line, and never seems to skip or fade. It's just an all around good nib. It writes a nice soft line as well given that its a gold nib, which is something I really enjoy about a nice gold nib. Edison's nibs meet the mark on that for me!
Filling System
The filling system that I use with the pen is the standard cartridge/converter system. It's pretty standard and works well. However the pen does have the option to be used as an eyedropper. All that is needed is a small bit of silicone grease. I can't get myself to do it for some reason though, it is a weird trust issue for me!
Customer Service
What can I say about Brian's customer service. It's simply the best in the business. Brian stands behind his product 110% and that's why I will always be a customer of his. He is involved in every step of the process of making your pen, from helping/showing you materials on his webcam, filling you in on the little bits of pen knowledge you might not know on making a pen, and talking to you as he is making your pen. Most importantly to me though is the after purchase services. Any issue, as little or remote as it may be is always dealt with no matter what.
I feel at this time I have the perfect example of his customer service as well. This pen when I purchase it was purchased as a clipless pen. I found that for my personal use it was not as functional as I needed it to be and put it up for sale. After not being able to sell it for quite a while, I was chatting with Brian and he told me to send it in and he'd make me a new cap with a clip for it (not for free mind you). I took him up on it and sent in the pen. What happened next, blew me away. I was chatting with him on his webcam later, and he informed me that after he made the cap, he decided that he didn't like the original section he had made for the pen, so he took it upon himself to make a new one. Once he did that he realized the section and body of the pen didn't match up as he would have liked, so he made a new body for the pen!
So my pen went in for a new cap and came out a completely new pen! I do not know of any other pen makers who would take the time to do that.
Cost/Value
The overall cost of the pen was definitely worth what I paid. The pen is extremely well made, the customer service is fantastic. As well I feel good knowing that I'm supporting a small American Business. I would have absolutely no hesitation recommend Edison Pen and Brian Gray to anyone!
