COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

        A.) Given the heavy emphasis on classroom discussion and participation,  attendance is mandatory except for excused absences and illness, especially since we only meet once a week  (15%).  (If you  will be absent, please notify me by phone, in person, or by email).

        B.) Periodic response sheets, (2-3 pps.) on each major topic will be required throughout the course of the semester. The writings will generally be focused on  reactions to an assigned reading or a response to a thought question (45 %).

        C. There will be a comprehensive final exam (20%).

        D. Each student will be required to participate as a member in a team debate on  a contemporary policy issue to be presented in-class (20%).
