Delta Phi Alpha (National German Honor Society)

In the fall of 2007 the German program at the UWW was granted the Sigma Delta Chapter of Delta Phi Alpha and joined a substantial list of universities and colleges across the United States since the establishment of the Society in 1927. The UWW is proud to be a part of this tradition, which "seeks to recognize excellence in the study of German and to provide an incentive for higher scholarship. The Society aims to promote the study of the German language, literature, and civilization and endeavors to emphasize those aspects of German life and culture which are of universal value and which contribute to man's eternal search for peace and truth."

The minimum requirements for membership are as follows:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of college or university German or their equivalent with the attainment of sophomore standing and an official registration in an advanced course or its equivalent or corresponding advanced placement.
