Families and children should not be without a place to live.

That belief is at odds with realities at the start of the 21st century. More than a million children and their parents will be homeless this year.

It is imperative that those of us who work with homeless families and children are as effective as possible in both helping them directly and in working toward a community and a society where homelessness is a rare and fleeting event. This website has been set up for two major purposes:	Sign the Guest Book and we can inform you of new content and features:

• to provide useful information for workers on helping clients plan for the future, on integrating service provision and advocacy, on parenting while homeless (as well as starting points in working with people experiencing homelessness and Perspectives on Shelter Life from Residents and Staff).
• to collect and pass along the expertise of those who work directly with homeless families and of the families themselves. The workers and the families are the real experts, and their hard-fought understanding of what works needs to be shared outside of their own agency or community.
