About the duo
Sonict formed in 2005 with a goal of sonic exploration in new media and aesthetic style. The duo focuses on works that combine saxophone, video, and live electronic audio performance to create music of the highest performative, artistic, and emotional caliber. Our repertoire is drawn from a combination of commissions, existing works, and newly-created work by Sonict. Members of the duo have been involved in concerts and festivals throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.
Sonict has recently performed at Hallwalls contemporary arts center, the Third Practice Festival, UW-Milwaukee's Unruly Music series, and at The Stone in NY as part of a solo Jeff Herriott recital. The duo has also held residencies featuring masterclasses and performances at Augustana College, the University at Buffalo, Eastman School of Music, and Nazareth College. In spring 2009, the duo will perform a joint concert with the Kansas City Electronic Music Alliance (KCEMA) with additional residencies planned at UMKC, the Kansas City Art Institute, Iowa State University, and Clarke College. The duo will also be performing at the SEAMUS national conference being held at Sweetwater Sound.
