| For full consideration
to be given to the manuscript the following guidelines appearing below
must be followed. |
-
1. The total length
of each manuscript should not exceed approximately 7,500 words. This
total includes all tables, graphs, notes, and bibliography. While
shorter manuscripts are acceptable, the author of longer manuscripts may
be asked to shorten the manuscript as a condition of acceptance.
-
2. Footnotes should
appear as End Notes at the conclusion of the text. It is also recommended
that notes be kept to a minimum for reader convenience.
-
3. To ensure continuity
and fluidity between and among chapters, all manuscripts should contain
clearly designated introduction and conclusion sections. The actual
number of sections and sub-sections, however, is left to the discretion
of the author of each manuscript.
-
4. All manuscripts
should remain true to a critical criminology perspective in their analyses
of the issues. Authors using a critical race perspective are especially
encouraged to submit their manuscripts.
-
5. Authors are asked
to refrain where possible from using long quotes from a single copyrighted
work as these quotes may require copyright permissions which can sometimes
delay publication. Generally, one may use up to a total of 300 words
from a single copyrighted work without fear of copyright infringement,
although exceptions to this rule do exist.
-
6. An abstract of
approximately 100 words and a brief biographical sketch of the author that
includes the author’s current affiliation, research interest(s), and recent
publications should accompany the manuscript.
-
7. All manuscripts
submitted for review should conform to the guidelines provided in the Publication
Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th edition).
Two paper copies
of the manuscript should be submitted to:

Department of Sociology

Upon final acceptance of your manuscript
I will need an IBM-compatible diskette containing all materials.
I am most familiar with MS Word 97 (or 2000), although other word processing
programs can be accommodated.
-
A release form for all contributors
will be distributed by Praeger prior to actual production. The form
must be signed before production can begin.
-
Contributors will receive a complimentary
copy of the book upon its publication. Each contributor will also
be eligible for a 40% discount on additional copies of the book from the
publisher.
-
Although publication delays are sometimes
unavoidable, I am scheduled to provide a final copy of the complete manuscript
to Praeger by October 1, 2002.
