Introduction to the class and to each other. Due: Next week come to class with a piece of paper that states: "I have read the syllabus for Multimedia Production III, I have taken the quiz and I understand Prof. Bertozzi's expectations for the course." Sign it and turn it in to me.

First concept- portfolio v1
By Wed., you should have a folder called 352 in your web folder. It should have an index page that links to your first pitch. The pitch is your first proposal for the design of your portfolio. The text page should describe your audience (- who do you want to hire you?), the message (what kind of great person are you and why should they hire you), and how your design is appropriate to the kind of person you are. How will your design help you stand out and communicate your talents? This is a very rough job market. You need to make yourself look fantastic. The other pages are preliminary storyboards. Media Literacy in an Interactive Age by Art Silverblatt
Come to class with answers to these questions based on the reading.
How do you define and understand the audience for your interactive media product?
Presentation:
Due Wed.: Second concept- interactive advertisement. Due Sunday: working resume component of portfolio . Resume should load into a flash frame from at least two external text files. Content should be styled correctly with CSS utilizing at least 4 style definitions. Scrolling is a good idea for the text field. Come up with arrows that fit your design.

Week 4:February 8/10 |
Reading: Paper Prototyping - electronic reserve
Drag and Drop in Flash Presentation: Due linked to your class page Sunday by 6 pm : swf file that utilizes drag and drop to teach something. Piece should provide feedback on whether action was correct or not.

Week 5:February 15/17 |
Activity: Spend some time with this (Flow) interactive media product. What is it? How do you proceed? What are usability issues associated with it? Then try this one (Airport Security). What is the desired user experience?
This week we will have visitors pitching proposals for group projects. Presentation: Dominique Due Thursday: Third concept, interactive media that you would like to develop as a class project for the semester. Look at Jellyvision for ideas. |

Reading: 39- 85 Web Redesign Sound management for portfolio: creating ambiance and showing work. We start working on a master swf that will shuffle other swfs and the preloader. Presentation: Ashley Due Sunday: Sound component of portfolio (your portfolio should include a section where the user can play and control sound), and preloader.swf for master file.

usability test questions (minimum of 15) and description of how tests will be conducted. Some tests should be conducted with tester present, others without.

| Final Project Presentations will take place during our scheduled exam time: Wednesday May 12 at 3pm. You will turn in your group notebooks and program files of your final project and portfolios at this time. Each group is also required to present at the Play Expo which is in April. | |
